It has been a historic season for Washington State’s Arlington High School Boy's Soccer.
Making History at Arlington High School
On Saturday, the Arlington High School (AHS) Eagles topped Shorecrest 2-0 in the district playoffs to earn a state birth for the first time in nearly 40 years.
"When looking at our [AHS] history, we found that the last time the Arlington team made it to state was in the mid-80s. That added fuel to the fire to make history and get back to the state tournament," said AHS Coach Kieren Raney
"Going into the game against Shorecrest, our goal was to try to be as error-free as possible. Not necessarily to go out and win the game but rather to allow them to make mistakes as they tried to pursue scoring. That is exactly what happened, we capitalized on two mistakes and then locked our defense down by transitioning some of our upper classmen into the back line," he continued.

The win sent AHS to the state tournament, where they will now take on Ridgeline High School, east of Spokane.
"It [Ridgeline High School] couldn't be a longer trip, but we're excited to make it." Raney Exclaimed.
Coach Rany hopes to keep building on what they have done and the culture that has been created this season.
Now, the underclassmen know what it takes. We will see what we can accomplish on Tuesday night, but I'm hoping Arlington's future is bright in years to come," said Coach Raney.
The Opening Game
Arlington will take on Ridgeline on the road tonight (May 14th) with a 6:30 PM start time. The winner will advance to play Lincoln (Seattle) on May 17th. A full 3A WIAA soccer bracket can be seen here.
