Big Sky 64s Host First-Ever Senior Night: Exciting Weekend of Hockey Ahead

The Big Sky 64s youth hockey team will be hosting their first-ever senior night this weekend in Big Sky at the Marty Pavelich Rink.

This will be the first group to graduate with some players who helped start the youth hockey program many years ago.

“We will celebrate the seniors who stuck with hockey or joined the program in the past few years. Being an up-and-coming youth hockey program, we will be playing against another newer organization, Lewistown, Montana, and joining the Montana 64’s for two games,” said Joseph McFadden, a Big Sky Hockey representative and coach.

“Charlee Sue Dreisbach had expressed interest in putting together a team to play games as a freshman, so she and I got to work on finding and recruiting more players and tracking down games and opportunities to compete,” said McFadden.

As the season was winding down and seeing how the Salmon youth hockey program allowed the Big Sky seniors to be celebrated in their tournament, we attended in February. A few of the Big Sky Seniors got the wheels turning and put together a weekend of their own.

The Big Sky, Montana 64s team will have a mix of players from eighth grade to twelfth grade on the co-ed team. The team’s complete makeup is five seniors, two sophomores, one freshman, and multiple middle schoolers.

The seniors will be recognized by their parents and some coaches who helped start the program. The seniors who will participate will be Keelan Grupe, Charlee Sue Dreisbach, Mason Dickerson, Aidan Germain, and Drew DiTulio.
