Bozeman, Montana – The Bozeman Stingers took the Jackson Hole (Wyoming) Moose to the wire in an overtime thriller at home on Saturday.
After dropping the first game of the two-game series against the Moose, the Stingers were eager to even the series.
The game started neck and neck as both teams ended the first tied at one goal each. After scoring in the first frame, Kris Mclain would light the lamp for the Stingers.
The second would see a flurry of Bozeman goals as the Stingers would three more. The Moose would chip in two of their own to bring the score to 4-3 at the end of the second period. The game would have all the makings of a classic as it reached the third and final period.
“Saturday, we came out with more speed. Nice to get the first goal. We always play better with a lead. When we get to a place where we put together a complete game, we can skate with anyone,” said Bozeman’s Cody Blom.
Jackson Hole’s Defense would hold Bozeman off the scoreboard in the last period, and the Moose would knot things up with a tying goal from A.J. Sanders near the halfway point of the frame.
The game would head into overtime with the score tied 4-4. Jackson Hole’s Ryan Glantz would net the game-winning goal around the 3:00 minute mark.
It was a much better game on Saturday night after coming out flat on Friday. It’s stings losing, but even a little more in OT [overtime],” Blom said.
Upcoming Games
The Stingers will play next weekend (February 16th and 17th) against Fond Du Lac in the “Winter Classic.”
