WISL Playoff Preview: Everett City FC vs. Oly Pen Force

After the end of the regular season, the playoff matchups are set in the Western Indoor Soccer League. Everett  City FC will take on Oly Pen Force in the first round.  Everett City FC earned the third seed in the playoffs after going 7-3-0. The Oly Pen Force's opponents entered the first round as the sixth seed after going 4-6-0. The other first-round match will see Oly Town going on the road to battle South Sound FC. 

Everett City FC enters the postseason with a ton of momentum. The club won six straight games to finish out the regular season. General Manager Angel Herrera is looking forward to the match and believes his club’s defensive effort will be crucial. Furthermore, in preparing for the match, the club has been busy ensuring everything is ready.

We are fine-tuning all around. We want to be clean with the little things like subs, man up/man downs, and taking advantage of set pieces,” said Herrera.

Everett City’s General Manager expects Glenn Paden to have a big game against the Force. In the regular season, Paden had 4 goals and 1 assist.

The Oly Pen Force's opponents are also coming into the first round with some momentum on their side. Oly Pen won games that helped propel them into the postseason.

The Force is anticipating a big defensive effort, and avoiding penalties will be factors in the match. The club hopes to execute both to help them win the opening round game. On defense, it will take a strong collective effort to improve on past results,” he continued.

This week, the club had been hard at work in preparation.  “We are training to focus on the things we need to improve on to give us the best opportunity against a club that we feel is actually the best in the league this season,” said Force General Manager Micah McMonagle. 

Regarding who might have a huge role in the match, McMonagle  said that Ismael DeLuna and Alex Hernandez will be key for us on offense.”
