Vancouver Whitecaps FC to Host Wrexham AFC, Co-Owned by Ryan Reynolds, in Memorable Showdown at BC Place

Major League Soccer’s (MLS)  Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today (Thursday) that they will host the Welsh side Wrexham AFC and their celebrity co-chairman and owner, Ryan Reynolds, on Saturday, July 27, at Vancouver's BC Place with a 4:30 PT Kickoff.

In a press release from the club, the co-chairman said: "Last year Rob got to bring Wrexham to Philly. This year it's my turn," said Wrexham AFC co-chairman Ryan Reynolds. "I am so excited my hometown club, the Whitecaps, will get to square off against the Red Dragons. My official stance on the match will be a very friendly 'neutral' even if I will be screaming for a Paul Mullin hat trick."

The match is memorable for Wrexham AFC owner Ryan Reynolds, who was born and raised in Vancouver and grew up a Whitecaps fan. 2020 Reynolds and fellow Hollywood star Rob McElhenney purchased the Wrexham club in 2020. Since

 then, the organization was featured in the popular "Welcome to Wrexham" docu-series on FX.
