Western Hockey League Set to Host 2024 U.S. Priority and Prospects Drafts This Week

The Western Hockey League (WHL) has announced on their website that the  2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft and 2024 WHL Prospects Draft online this Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Real-time results will be available at WHL.ca.

2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft
Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. MT

The Regina Pats have first overall pick in the upcoming 2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft.

This draft event spans two rounds and includes 44 selections, offering each WHL Club the chance to make two picks.

The WHL says, eligible players for the 2024 WHL U.S. Priority Draft were born in 2009 and reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Players not chosen in the U.S. Priority Draft will maintain eligibility for selection in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2024, or may be listed by a WHL Club at a later date.

Securing the first-overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft is the Everett Silvertips, determined by the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft Lottery held on March 27, 2024.

The Prince Albert Raiders have the second-overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, moving up from fourth to second after winning the draft lottery. In back to back seasons, the Raiders have enjoyed a selection in the top two of the draft.
