Former Butte Jr. Hockey Capitan and Helena Bighorn Makes College Hockey Commitment

Former Butte Irish, Cobra, and Helena Bighorn, Carson Streich, will continue his hockey career at the University level next season.

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) defenseman, who played three seasons for Butte and appeared in eight games, winning a championship with Helena, announced his commitment to play for the University of Oregon at the Division 1 level of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

Taking His Talents from Montana to the Northwest

“I’m super pumped to start this new journey in Oregon! It’s a beautiful place in Eugene, and I’m stoked to be a part of the Ducks family! Many people know Oregon as a school, so representing them will be a blast, exclaimed Streich.

Last season,  Streich, a native of Osseo, Minnesota, played in 42 games and amassed over 30 points.

A Well-liked Player by Teammates and Coaches Alike

“Carson was a great Captain and leader of our team for two seasons. He was the hardestworking player on and off the ice, and he was adored by the young players who followed the Irish at every game,” said Butte Irish Head Coach Marc Brodeur in a post from the Bighorns.

“I would like to start by saying that it was an absolute pleasure to coach Carson, even if it was for such a short period.  We were extremely excited that we had the opportunity to add a player like Carson at the deadline; not only did it add more depth on our back end, but better yet, he was such a great person to his peers around him.  We wish Carson the best in the next four years at the University of Oregon, echoed by Bighorns Head Coach Damon Hansen.
