Montana State Players Invited to NFL Mini-Camps in 2024
By Mitch Bohn
The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, and when the draft ends, fans of FCS programs like Montana State get excited. Except for the year Troy Andersen put MSU on the map and got selected in the 2nd round, FCS players get their chance to play in the NFL by becoming UDFAs or Undrafted Free Agents. The Montana State Bobcats had three picked up after the draft this year. Treyton Pickering, Clevan Thomas Jr., and Sean Chambers.
Treyton Pickering, NY Giants
Treyton Pickering came to the Bobcats from Sunburst, Montana, a small town near the Hi-Line. He became an integral part of our offense, blocking and becoming a surehanded target for Sean Chambers and Touchdown Tommy Mellott. The New York Giants picked him up and will be fighting it out this summer for a roster spot.
Clevan Thomas Jr., Cleveland Browns
Clevan Thomas Jr. came to the Bobcats through the transfer portal. He started college at the University of Kentucky but transferred to Montana State due to a lack of playing time. In his two years at MSU, he was an integral part of our offense and helped with the throwing growth MSU has seen with Touchdown Tommy Mellott. The Cleveland Browns picked him up and will fight for a roster spot.
Sean Chambers, Carolina Panthers
Sean Chambers came to the Bobcats with Coach Vigen from the University of Wyoming and was a part of MSU’s electric two QB systems. Sean Chambers was the yin to Tommy Mellott’s yang in his two years at MSU. Sean’s strong arm and pocket presence will do wonders in the NFL, along with his size and athleticism. The Carolina Panthers picked him up, and I believe he will not only get a roster spot but also secure the backup quarterback role.
