Orcas High School Baseball Set to Clash with Defending Champions, Naselle

After topping Pomeroy in the first WIAA State baseball tournament round, Orcas High School (OHS) now looks to play last year's champions, Naselle High (NHS).

Orcas vs Nasselle: A David vs Goliath Matchup

"This is truly a David vs Goliath matchup. Underrated Orcas Island, going against last year's State Champions.

Orcas has to travel across the State, taking Buses, Ferries, and Vans over two days of travel," said OHS Coach, Eli Sanders.

"In my opinion, if we Show up and focus at the task at hand, No One can stop us. Our next step is the final four and the State Championships," he continued.

An Orcas Win Against Pomeroy

On Tuesday, the Vikings defeated Pomeroy 2-1 in the first round of state play. Now, on Saturday, OHS will have to make the trip down to play NHS in South Bend, Washington, to take on the champs at Cheney's Field on Saturday (May 18th).

"I'm hoping for another week of baseball and a trip to Johnson-O'Brien Stadium next weekend," Sanders said.

The winner of this game will play in the state semi-finals on May 24th against the winner of Northport and Almira-Coulee-Hartline.
